Your words continue on

I know they can't be true

What have you forgotten

What more is there to do

I don't see what you told me

Love has blocked my view

I will be the lonely one

You have lost a patient

While I have lost a son

I don't know what happened

I don't know what I've done

All about me makes no sense

I cannot tell you why

The medicine is good for you

I taught you not to cry

When you taught me how

The sorrow filled my eye

Now the road is much too long

As I go from here to there

I think I should be someplace

But who can tell me where

The road goes on and on and on

It really isn't fair

You were young

And I was old

Men are strong

Or so I'm told

Nothing is right

I've left the fold

Now my friends have left me

They tell me they are right

I can't see what oppresses me

I don't know what to fight

They all try to help me

If I'll agree they might

Now I need the medicine

And hours in the chair

I tell her all about you

And then I pay the fare

Money can't buy happiness

Without you here to share

I cannot find the questions

To the answers that I seek

I used to know the questions

But now my mind is weak

I cannot see in front of me

No knowledge do I speak

How does the world continue

Don't they know it's upside-down

They don't know what they're missing

They don't understand my frown

How can I wear a smile

Beneath this thorny crown

I was here before you

And I gave you my best

But you gave me so much more

Before your final rest

I welcomed you into my life

Not knowing you were a guest

All the children's fairy tales

And stories that are told

Of Kings and Queens and castles

Of love more pure than gold

They all have happy endings

But the stories leave me cold

My life has not been like that

And yours was even worse

You were always full of love

But cancer was your curse

Now my eyes are full of tears
